News Roundup: April 30, 2010

I cannot believe it is already the last day of April! So much has happened this past month, but we are already looking ahead to the summer months and planning for the fall! Remember, the 2010-2011 National Learn & Serve Challenge kicks off October 18-24, 2010. We look forward to participation from all of you! Now, a quick roundup of the latest news.

Baltimore Sun
, April 29, 2010 - Here's a local school's efforts to help the Haiti earthquake victims. Severna Park Middle School students raised $12,000! Way to go!

Redwood Falls Gazette
, April 29, 2010 - Read about Redwood Valley High School students "strolling" for service.

The Brown Daily Herald
, April 29, 2010 - Why is Brown University making a distinction between "engaged scholar" and "service-learning"? Why does the language of service-learning "not fly" with the faculty? While I applaud the school for trying to incorporate service into the classroom, I am a bit puzzled and saddened (more sad than puzzled) by this article.
