Summer Institute in Service-Learning in Austin

Please join us in Austin, Texas, on June 16-18, 2010, for the 7th Annual Summer Institute in Service-Learning, hosted by Service Learning Texas, a statewide initiative of Region 14 Education Service Center and the Texas Education Agency. This year's Institute, Continuing the Journey, will include workshops by national and state presenters on effective strategies for growing, improving, and sustaining service-learning practice in K-12 schools and a special track sponsored by State Farm on service-learning and disaster preparedness.

LEARN through engaging workshops by national and state presenters, including Cathy Berger Kaye, Jim Toole, Tracy Harkins, Joan Liptrot, Julene Reed, and Barry Guillot;

CONNECT with colleagues and expert service-learning practitioners;

SERVE others through participation in an on-site service project;

EXPAND your horizons through sessions on Systems Thinking, Brain-Based Learning, Field Investigations, and many other topics; and

ENJOY a screening of the film One Peace at a Time followed by a lively discussion with staff of the Nobelity Project (www.nobelity.com).

Service Learning Texas (formerly the Texas Center for Service-Learning) is a statewide initiative of Region 14 Education Service Center and the Texas Education Agency.
